Lieutenant Commander Matt Swezey is a native of Cohoes, New York. He was commissioned in 2009 from the United States Naval Academy, and he earned his Masters from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2016.
He served as a Division Officer on the USS ASHEVILLE (SSN-758) in San Diego, California. During his first sea tour he completed deployments to Southern Command and the Western Pacific. He was assigned to USS ALASKA (SSBN-732), stationed in Kings Bay, GA as the Engineer Officer where he completed four strategic deterrent patrols. He served as Executive Officer of the USS COLORADO (SSN-788) out of Groton, Connecticut and completed a European Command deployment.
While ashore, he served as Aide-de-Camp to the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and Strategy and Liaison Officer on the OPNAV Staff Undersea Warfare Division, N97.
Lieutenant Commander Swezey is currently serving as Executive Officer of the PCU DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA (SSBN-826) in Groton, Connecticut.
